Golden Boy - new OP with Big Black

I saw a commercial the other day that pissed me off. I can't find it now cause I forget what car it was advertising (way to go, ad people) and I haven't seen it since. Good riddance.

The premise was this: some girl is on a blind date with a young guy in a suit. She rushes out of the café, telling the guy she has to go cause her ride is there. She gets in her friend's car, and they start giggling (as women tend to do whenever they get together). The girl tells her friend, "He said he was a student... of life. Single lane ahead, that's where I'll be."

Sigh... you silly woman... you just passed up on pre-dropout GOLDEN BOY!

I'm guessing he was still in law school cause he was wearing a suit... but maybe he had a job where he was wearing a suit.

Kintaro is a total badass. He dropped out of Tokyo U Law School... but not before finishing all his degree requirements. He just got bored. He's been on the road ever since, riding his trusty bike from job to job, learning as much as he can.

He likes cuddling...
[it's hard to tell but she's glaring at him]

and toilets...

and kids.

He's a real stand-up guy. Hell, he'll even make out with a yakuza to protect your pure-hearted daughter.

Of course, the ladies are all crazy about him.

Well, not all of them...

Did I mention he likes toilets?

The six-episode OVA isn't as (porno)graphic as the manga, but it's still one of the greatest OVAs ever.
The only thing lacking is the OP music. The first two bars are okay, but after that it turns into a really wimpy, lighthearted song. It just doesn't capture the feeling of the show at all. A manly anime deserves a manly theme song, so I gave it one.

[The song is Big Black's "Power of Independent Trucking"]

I was also thinking of using two McLusky songs - "What We've Learned" and "Icarus Smicarus", both of which have fitting lyrics - but "Trucking" fits the video better, I think.

It's amazing how much work it took to make one silly little video. Editing the video itself to better fit the music was the easy part; converting video formats was a nightmare. So excuse the crappy compression, I couldn't figure out how to edit my .MKV, so I converted a youtube clip to an MP4, converted that to an AVI with a program called Pazera, edited the video in Avidemux, combined the video with the new song in Windows Movie Maker, and saved that to a WMV.

Kintaro is so awesome, I can overlook his little ponytail and fanny pack.

Scans are from Ayanami's Manga Scans. I don't believe it's been published in English.
